Nature Molds

My new endeavor is to make clay molds from rocks. I have collected rocks for as long as I can remember. There is something about their solid, strong earthiness that attracts me. I love many of the plaster, wood or random finds that I have used to make molds, even making my own. But now I am drawn to make the stone molds, honoring their everlasting strength and cracks and crevices. Worn by the waters and weather that have passed through them and imprinted them, there is so much intrigue. What have they been through? What have they weathered? They are ancient. Formed, yet strong and resilient. Carved by the elements and yet keeping their own form. They do not break down easily or fast. But slow and go with the flow. Changing slowly over time, but their strength remains…solid.
